History

Davanti grew out of a long tradition of tire distribution in the United Kingdom. The parent company traces its roots back to 1980, when a single retail store opened in the north of England before growing into a wholesaler and exclusive distributor for several brands. Drawing on that expertise, management decided to take the leap from distribution into contract manufacturing. The Davanti brand was developed starting in 2013 by the wholesaler Oak Tyres, then officially founded in 2014 by Lawrence Cross and Debra Cross, before its global commercial launch in 2015. The stated goal was to offer a range of tires designed and developed by engineers in the United Kingdom and sold worldwide. Davanti is today a registered trademark of Oak Group Holdings (OGH). Starting from a few initial models such as the DX390 and DX640, the catalog expanded to cover summer, winter, all-season, ultra-high-performance, SUV, commercial and off-road segments, with models such as the Wintoura (2017), the Terratoura off-road tire (2018) and the Vantoura for vans (2021). Manufacturing takes place in state-of-the-art plants in China and Serbia; more recently, the brand announced European production in one of the most advanced smart factories on the continent. Davanti products are now sold in more than eighty countries and distributed in Canada by online retailers. Access to the United States market has remained limited, with antidumping duties having slowed expansion despite an announced entry in 2018. The brand also maintains visibility partnerships, notably in sports, and has run sustainability campaigns such as tree planting through the Ecologi program.

Technologies

Davanti relies on silica-enriched rubber compounds and tread designs developed to balance wet and dry grip, low rolling resistance and acoustic comfort. Performance models such as the DX640 combine an advanced silica compound with a directional tread pattern to maximize grip and responsiveness. The Terratoura off-road tires count on a rigid, durable casing and a rugged tread pattern that promotes traction and the ejection of debris. The winter and all-season tires use siping and tread patterns designed for traction on snow and braking in cold weather. Every tire is said to be fully researched, developed and tested, with the testing exceeding European Union labeling requirements and UTQG standards before going into production.

Innovations

Davanti emphasizes a structured research and development program, with testing carried out at recognized facilities such as IDIADA in Spain for off-road and the UTAC center in Finland for winter tires, where ice traction, braking and snow handling are evaluated. This approach has allowed the catalog to expand rapidly since 2015, with the arrival of specialized lines: the Wintoura winter tire, the 3PMSF-certified Terratoura off-road tire, the Vantoura for commercial vehicles and, more recently, performance models manufactured in Europe. On the sustainability front, the brand has entered into a climate partnership with Ecologi that has led to the planting of tens of thousands of trees, and it claims environmental and quality certifications (ISO 14001, ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001). Davanti also supports its profile through visible sports partnerships, without being a motorsport brand in the strict sense.

Manufacturing

Davanti is a registered trademark of the Oak group (Oak Group Holdings, OGH), based in the north of England, where design and engineering are handled. Tire manufacturing is carried out in state-of-the-art plants located in China and Serbia; the brand has announced additional European production at an advanced smart factory. Davanti does not own a plant in Canada or Quebec. In the Canadian market, the brand is present through distribution: its tires are offered by online retailers and price comparison sites that deliver to Quebec and the rest of the country. Access to the United States market has remained restricted because of antidumping duties applied to certain imported tires.

Reputation

Davanti is seen as an innovative mid-range manufacturer, designed by British engineers and produced in modern plants, with labeling results that sometimes rival those of premium brands, particularly in the wet and on noise. In independent testing, the models post mixed results: the DX640 ranked well in a comparison of mid-range comfort tires, while winter and UHP models such as the Wintoura plus and the Protoura Sport earned more modest scores. In Quebec, the main interest lies in the winter (Wintoura) and off-road (Terratoura, 3PMSF-certified) lines, which are relevant to the winter tire requirement between December 1 and March 15.
