Opel Kadett
The Kadett is a major historic Opel model: launched in 1936, it was the first truly affordable family compact produced by a German manufacturer. After an interruption due to the war, it was relaunched from 1962 to 1991, spanning several generations (from the Kadett A to the Kadett E) and becoming a pillar of the compact segment in Europe. Economical, robust and accessible, it appealed to millions of families before giving way to the Astra in 1991. The Kadett B enjoyed real commercial success, including in the United States where it was sold through the Buick network in the 1960s. In the United Kingdom, the latest generations were marketed under the name Vauxhall Astra. On collector examples still on the road, the wheels are small in diameter (13 to 15 inches) and the tires, often in older sizes, require finding modern equivalents.

Au Québec, les Opel sont rares puisque la marque n'y est plus distribuée, mais des modèles rebadgés (Buick Encore ex-Mokka, Buick Regal ex-Insignia, Saturn Astra) circulent encore. Les citadines comme la Corsa utilisent typiquement de petits diamètres de jante (15 à 17 pouces), tandis que les compactes Astra et les berlines Insignia tournent plutôt autour de 16 à 18 pouces, voire plus en finition sportive. Les entraxes courants se situent autour de cinq trous (par exemple 5x115 ou 5x120 selon les modèles). Comme tout véhicule roulant au Québec, un second train de pneus d'hiver homologués est essentiel et obligatoire en saison; vérifiez toujours l'entraxe, le déport et l'alésage exacts du véhicule avant l'achat.
