Brand profile
TVS Eurogrip is an Indian tire brand from the TVS group, manufactured by TVS Srichakra Limited in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. Active since 1982 under the name TVS Tyres, it was rebranded Eurogrip in 2018. It specializes in tires for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and off-road vehicles, and exports to more than 85 countries, including North America for its off-road segment.
Positioning: Two-wheeler, three-wheeler, agricultural, industrial and off-the-road (OTR) tires.
History
TVS Srichakra Limited was incorporated in 1982 in Madurai, Tamil Nadu (India), as part of the TVS group, a large Indian industrial conglomerate active in mobility since the early 20th century. The company began by producing tires for two-wheelers, three-wheelers and off-road applications under the "TVS Tyres" brand. Over the decades, it became one of India's leading tire manufacturers and exporters, with a market share of around 25% in the country's two- and three-wheeler segment. In 2018, the company unified its product lines under a new global identity: TVS Eurogrip, in order to support its international expansion. That same year, it entered into a partnership with Michelin to manufacture two-wheeler tires in India. Production relies on two main plants: Madurai (Tamil Nadu) and Uttarakhand (northern India), for a combined capacity of roughly 2.3 to 3 million tires per month. R&D is concentrated in Madurai, supported since 2019 by a design center established in Milan, Italy; the tires are put to the test on roads and racetracks in India, Europe and Japan. TVS Eurogrip also supplies original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as Bajaj Auto, Royal Enfield and TVS Motor Company. The company is listed on the Indian NSE and BSE stock exchanges. Internationally, its off-road division (OHT: agricultural, construction, industrial and OTR) is actively targeting North America: it takes part in major trade shows such as SEMA, ConExpo and the Farm Progress Show in the United States, where the American market is designated a priority for this division. Beyond its two-wheeler tires, which are sold mainly in the Indian and Asian markets, certain TVS Eurogrip off-road tires are distributed in the United States by specialized dealers. In Quebec and Canada, the brand remains present primarily through these North American off-road distribution networks rather than through an established consumer retail network.
Technologies
TVS Eurogrip develops its tires out of its R&D center in Madurai, in conjunction with its Milan design studio. On its sport motorcycle tires, the brand uses steel-belted radial casings and multi-compound rubber blends (dual-compound, then quad-compound) designed to combine grip at lean angle with longevity. The Roadhound model introduces the four-rubber "Quadrazone" technology, presented as a first for an Indian manufacturer. The tread patterns are designed to channel water away efficiently and maintain contact with the road on wet surfaces. In the agricultural and off-road segment, the company relies on reinforced structures, R-1W and VF radial lines (increased load capacity at low pressure), as well as usage compatibilities such as hydraulic inflation for tractor tires.
Innovations
Innovation at TVS Eurogrip is focused on developing rubber compounds and casings suited to each use. In motorcycling, the development of the Roadhound's Quadrazone quad-compound technology, engineered in Madurai and validated on European racetracks, illustrates the brand's ambition to compete in the large-displacement tire segment. The industrial partnership formed in 2018 with Michelin also fostered a transfer of manufacturing expertise. On the agricultural side, the arrival of modern radial lines (including VF tires capable of carrying greater loads at reduced pressure, which spares cultivated soil) and the Tigertrac lineup reflects R&D efforts geared toward productivity and land preservation. The brand tests its products across several continents and takes part in international technical trade shows to calibrate its developments to local requirements.
Manufacturing
The headquarters of TVS Srichakra and the main plant are located in Madurai, Tamil Nadu (India); a second plant is located in the state of Uttarakhand, in the north of the country. Combined capacity is around 2.3 to 3 million tires per month. R&D is centralized in Madurai, complemented by a design center opened in Milan, Italy, in 2019. The brand does not own a plant in Canada. In Quebec, the TVS Eurogrip offering — mainly in the off-road and agricultural segments — comes through North American distribution networks and specialized dealers rather than through a local presence.
Reputation
TVS Eurogrip enjoys a solid reputation in India, where it ranks among the leaders in two- and three-wheeler tires and equips major manufacturers. Its sport motorcycle tires (Protorq, Roadhound) have received favorable reviews from the specialized press for their grip and value for money, while positioning themselves below the European premium benchmarks. In the agricultural and off-road segments, the brand is recognized for rugged, affordable products. In Quebec, its relevance concerns mainly off-road uses (fields, job sites, material handling) and certain specialized applications, available through North American distribution networks. The motorcycle range, designed first and foremost for the Indian and Asian markets, remains scarcely available there.
