Vehicle model
BMW i3
The BMW i3 is a fully electric compact city car, launched in 2013 as the first mass-production car of BMW's 'i' sub-brand. It stood out for a structure made largely of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and aluminum, a pioneering approach for a production vehicle. Offered in a purely electric version and, depending on the market, with a gasoline range extender (REx), the i3 aimed at sustainable urban mobility. Its production ended in July 2022, with about 250,000 units produced, as BMW refocused its lineup toward longer-range electric models such as the i4 and the iX. The i3 remains a landmark model sought after by enthusiasts. On the tire and wheel side, the i3 stands out for its large-diameter but narrow wheels, optimized to reduce rolling resistance; in Quebec, winter tires suited to these specific dimensions are important and must be carefully validated.
