History

History of the Chery Tiggo

Tiggo is Chery's large SUV family, and its commercial cornerstone for export. The range covers several formats, from subcompact SUV to three-row mid-size SUV, with numbered models (Tiggo 4, 7, 8 and their Pro and Pro Max variants). Widely exported, the Tiggo models target families and buyers looking for space, a good level of equipment and modern powertrains at a competitive price. Recent generations offer plug-in hybrid versions providing long combined ranges. Depending on the size of the model, Tiggos commonly run 17- to 19-inch wheels with a common bolt pattern, dimensions for which the supply of all-season and winter tires is abundant. In the Quebec context, an SUV of this type would clearly benefit from a dedicated set of winter tires mounted on wheels for the cold season.

Turbocharged gasoline engines with direct injection (TGDI) from 1.5 L to 2.0 L (up to about 261 hp), DCT or automatic transmissions, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive (AWD); plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions on recent models; in-house modular platforms (T1X) and Level 2 driver-assistance features.

Comme la plupart des marques chinoises modernes, la gamme Chery privilégie les VUS, qui chaussent couramment des jantes de 17 à 19 pouces, tandis que les berlines tournent souvent autour de 16 à 18 pouces; l'entraxe fréquent sur les modèles compacts est de type 5x114,3 mm. À titre d'exemple, l'Omoda 5 reçoit des pneus en 215/55 R18 sur jantes de 18 pouces. Sur ces dimensions répandues, l'offre de pneus de remplacement et de jantes est large. Au Québec, des pneus d'hiver homologués (pictogramme montagne-flocon) sont obligatoires; un second jeu monté sur jantes d'acier dans un diamètre courant facilite le changement saisonnier et protège les jantes d'origine du sel et des nids-de-poule.
