Exeed
Exeed (styled EXEED, sometimes called Xingtu in China) is the high-end brand of Chinese automaker Chery Automobile. Chery was founded on January 8, 1997, in Wuhu, in Anhui Province, originally as a state-owned enterprise backed by municipal officials. Twenty years later, in September 2017, Chery unveiled the Exeed brand at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) with the TX concept, a mid-size SUV. The brand was officially named EXEED in November 2018, the Chinese name Xingtu meaning roughly "star" and "journey," to evoke ambition and surpassing limits. The first production model, the mid-size TX/TXL SUV, arrived in March 2019, followed by the compact LX the same year, then the large VX SUV in January 2020 and the RX in 2023. Within Chery's galaxy of brands, Exeed sits at the top of the pyramid, positioned as a premium and technology-focused brand, much the way Audi sits above Volkswagen or Lexus above Toyota. The brand has grown primarily through exports. Chery launched Exeed in Russia in 2020, where the withdrawal of Western automakers after 2022 sharply boosted its sales; Exeed became one of the best-selling premium brands there. The brand is also present in the Middle East (United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman) since 2022, in South America, and in CIS countries. In the first half of 2025, Exeed claimed roughly 62,000 global sales and more than 440,000 vehicles cumulatively. The brand also fields an electrified lineup under the Exlantix/Sterra name (electric or range-extender sedans and SUVs). Exeed is not officially sold in Canada or the United States; its presence in North America is, to date, nonexistent on the consumer market.

Technologies
Technologies, innovations and platforms
Exeed builds on the platforms and technology chain of the Chery group. The gasoline models mainly use turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engines (1.5 L and 1.6 L TGDI), paired with dual-clutch transmissions (DCT). Chery highlights high-thermal-efficiency engines, including a 1.5 L turbo with a Miller cycle claiming a peak efficiency of around 44%. The brand fields a plug-in hybrid offering under the C-DM (Super Hybrid) name, combining a dedicated combustion engine, a three-speed hybrid transmission, and one or two electric motors, with available all-wheel drive. On the zero-emission side, the Exlantix/Sterra sub-brand offers fully electric and range-extender (EREV) vehicles with large batteries. The vehicles carry generous technology equipment: large screens, digital instrumentation, connectivity, and driver-assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, and automatic emergency braking.

Identity, reputation, strengths and weaknesses
Positioning
A Chinese premium brand from Chery (since 2017), specializing in high-tech and electrified SUVs, absent from the official North American market.
Reputation
Because Exeed is a young brand (2017), it has a still-limited reliability track record and less long-term data than established automakers. Early reviews and feedback, especially in the Middle East, Russia, and Eastern Europe, point to a strong equipment-to-price ratio, careful fit and finish, and a high level of perceived luxury for the price. The perception of reliability is improving, but resale value remains hard to establish outside China and its export markets, given the lack of track record and dealer network in several countries. In Canada, the absence of official distribution and parts complicates any local assessment of reliability and residual value.
Strengths
Exeed stands out for an excellent level of equipment and high perceived luxury for the price, careful and tech-rich interiors, and a varied electrified lineup (C-DM plug-in hybrid, electric, and range-extender). The brand benefits from Chery's industrial scale and engine expertise, as well as rapid export growth across several continents.
Points to watch
As a recent brand, Exeed lacks track record on long-term reliability and resale value. Its network and brand recognition remain uneven by region. Above all, it is not officially distributed in Canada or the United States: no local warranty, no parts or service network, which makes maintenance and component availability problematic for a North American buyer.

Production
Exeed's production is handled by Chery, primarily at its facilities in Wuhu, in Anhui Province, China, where the group is headquartered. Chery also operates several plants and assembly joint ventures abroad to support its exports, notably in Russia, South America, Asia, and the Middle East, where CKD assembly lines can put together models destined for local markets. To date, Exeed has no plant or production in North America, and the brand is not officially sold there. No industrial presence in Canada or the United States is established for Exeed.
Tires and wheels
The Exeed catalog is dominated by compact-to-large SUVs (TXL, VX, RX, LX), which typically run 18- to 20-inch wheels depending on trim, with a bolt pattern frequently of 5x108 mm across several models. These dimensions correspond to wide, low-profile tires, common on mid-size SUVs. In Quebec, certified winter tires are mandatory: for these SUVs, a second winter set, often mounted on steel or alloy wheels of a sometimes smaller diameter, improves comfort, grip, and cost. Always check the exact size (diameter, width, bolt pattern, offset, and center bore) marked on the vehicle before any purchase.
