The Outlander is Mitsubishi's flagship compact SUV, launched in the early 2000s and offered across several generations. It targets families seeking a versatile vehicle that is spacious (seven-seat versions available), economical, and equipped with all-wheel drive. The fourth generation, unveiled in 2021, shares its CMF-CD platform with the Nissan Rogue/X-Trail as part of the Alliance and marks a clear step up in design and perceived quality. Its plug-in hybrid variant, the Outlander PHEV, was at one point the best-selling PHEV SUV in the world. Tire/rim note: generally fitted with 18- to 20-inch rims depending on the trim; in Quebec, a set of winter tires is strongly advised to make the most of the S-AWC all-wheel drive during the cold season.

The fourth generation is based on the Alliance's CMF-CD platform. It offers a naturally aspirated 2.5 L gasoline engine or a plug-in hybrid powertrain combining an Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder, electric motors, and the S-AWC all-wheel-drive system with multiple driving modes.

Les Mitsubishi vendues au Québec couvrent surtout des VUS compacts et sous-compacts (Outlander, Eclipse Cross, RVR) montés sur des jantes de 16 à 20 pouces selon la finition, ainsi que des berlines et la sous-compacte Mirage sur de plus petits diamètres. L'entraxe le plus courant sur les modèles récents est de type 5x114,3 mm, fréquent dans le segment. Vu les hivers rigoureux du Québec, un second train de pneus d'hiver montés sur jantes en acier (souvent en diamètre inférieur pour réduire le coût et améliorer l'adhérence) est fortement recommandé, particulièrement pour profiter pleinement de la traction intégrale S-AWC.
