Vehicle model
Mitsubishi Lancer Évolution
The Lancer Evolution, or "Evo," is a compact all-wheel-drive sport sedan produced from 1992 to 2016 across ten numbered generations (Evo I to Evo X). Derived from the Lancer sedan, it was designed for homologation and rally competition, becoming an icon rivaling the Subaru Impreza WRX. It distinguished itself in the World Rally Championship (WRC), where Tommi Mäkinen won four consecutive drivers' titles from 1996 to 1999, and Mitsubishi took the manufacturers' title in 1998. Renowned for its sharp chassis, exceptional traction, and enormous tuning potential, the Evo remains a sought-after collector's item. Tire/rim note: a performance model requiring high-speed-rated tires, often in large sizes; in Quebec, quality winter tires are essential to safely exploit its all-wheel drive on snow-covered roads.

Technology
Technologies, engines and platforms
The Evo I to IX used the cast-iron 2.0 L 4G63T turbo; the Evo X adopted the all-aluminum 4B11T block in 2007. The all-wheel-drive system evolved from a viscous center differential to the active AYC rear differential, then to the active ACD center differential, and finally to the S-AWC system on the Evo X.

Tire and wheel compatibility
