Aito M7
The Aito M7 represents an unprecedented strategic collaboration between Chinese technology giant Huawei and automaker Seres (Sokon). Officially launched in September 2022 on the Chinese market, this midsize SUV embodies Huawei's vision of integrating its HarmonyOS technological ecosystem directly into the automotive industry. The Aito brand, an acronym for "Adding Intelligence to Auto," was specifically created to market intelligent vehicles co-designed by Huawei and its manufacturing partners. The M7 constitutes the second model in the Aito lineup, succeeding the more compact M5, and directly targets the lucrative segment of six- or seven-seat family SUVs. From its introduction, the Aito M7 distinguished itself with modern and refined design, featuring a distinctive front lighting signature with slim horizontal LED optics. The vehicle's generous dimensions, measuring approximately 5,020 mm in length, 1,945 mm in width, and 1,760 mm in height, provide a spacious cabin comfortably accommodating six or seven passengers depending on the chosen configuration. The 2,820 mm wheelbase ensures particularly generous interior volume, a major asset for the Chinese market where rear-seat space constitutes a determining purchase criterion. Technically, the Aito M7 was initially offered exclusively in extended-range version (EREV), combining a powerful electric motor with a small gasoline engine serving as a generator. This series hybrid powertrain delivers substantial combined power, enabling dynamic performance while offering total range exceeding 1,000 kilometers. The electric propulsion system ensures quiet driving and brisk acceleration, while the thermal generator eliminates range anxiety associated with pure electric autonomy. In 2023, Aito expanded the range by introducing a 100% electric version of the M7, named M7 Pure Electric, thus responding to growing demand for zero-emission vehicles. This variant abandons the thermal generator in favor of a larger capacity battery, offering competitive pure electric range in its category. Both powertrains share a common technical architecture developed by Seres but fully leverage Huawei's expertise in onboard electronics and energy management. The Aito M7's interior reflects Huawei's technological influence, with a HarmonyOS 3 infotainment system integrated into multiple high-resolution touchscreens. The driving position adopts modern ergonomics with a digital instrument cluster and large central screen controlling the majority of vehicle functions. Perceived materials quality and overall finish rival those of established premium manufacturers, positioning the Aito M7 as a serious alternative to upscale SUVs. In the Chinese market, the Aito M7 has received favorable commercial reception, benefiting from Huawei's brand recognition and extensive distribution network. Sales have progressed steadily since launch, consolidating Aito's position as an emerging player in the premium electrified vehicle segment. Although primarily intended for the domestic Chinese market, the M7 illustrates the rapid evolution of China's automotive industry toward intelligent and connected electrification.
