Vehicle model

ARO Gamme ARO - utilitaires ou VUS

The utility and off-road range is ARO's historic core. It brings together the brand's rugged 4x4s, from the IMS-57 (1957) derived from the GAZ-69 to the M59 and M461, and then especially the Series 24 launched in 1972 and the Series 10 (1980). These vehicles, offered as 3-door, 5-door, pickup and soft-top versions, were aimed at utility, agricultural, military and expedition uses, in 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. Rugged and capable off-road, they were widely exported to around a hundred countries. As for tires and wheels, these are off-road or mixed fitments with tall sidewalls on small-diameter steel wheels; in Quebec, quality winter tires are essential on these older 4x4s, which lack electronic aids. A brand defunct since 2006, these models now belong to the realm of collectors and off-road enthusiasts.

Technology

Technologies, engines and platforms

Traditional 4x4 architecture: ladder frame, rigid axles and selectable all-wheel drive with a transfer case and low range. Manual gearboxes with 4 or 5 speeds. Various gasoline and diesel powertrains (ARO, Andoria, Peugeot, Toyota, VM Motori, Ford engines), favouring torque. No electrification or modern driver assistance.

Tires and wheels

Tire and wheel compatibility
