BYD F3
The BYD F3 is a compact (subcompact) sedan produced from 2005, the first car designed in-house by BYD. Sold at a very accessible price, it enjoyed great success in China, becoming the country's best-selling sedan in 2009 with a peak of more than 290,000 units per year. Aesthetically close to Japanese sedans of the era, it targeted a broad clientele looking for an economical and reliable family vehicle. The F3 passed the one-million-unit mark and remained in production for many years. As an entry-level model, it is generally fitted with small- to medium-diameter wheels; for winter use, winter tires suited to its size remain essential.

A gasoline-powered (internal combustion) sedan of modest displacement, with front-wheel drive. The F3 relies on simple, economical and easy-to-maintain mechanicals rather than electrification, which would later be explored by its plug-in hybrid derivative, the F3DM.
