Mahindra Thar
The Mahindra Thar is an iconic 4x4 off-road SUV, heir to the Jeeps assembled by Mahindra and named after the Thar Desert. The first generation arrived in 2010, replacing the Mahindra Major. The second generation, unveiled on August 15, 2020, is a complete redesign that modernizes the styling (bold grille, LED headlights, hardtop) while retaining genuine off-road ability; it was named Car of the Year at the 2021 Autocar Awards. In 2024, the Thar Roxx appeared, a five-door version built on the body-on-frame platform of the Scorpio-N, with a wheelbase lengthened by about 300 mm for more space and on-road comfort. The Thar is an off-road recreational vehicle with a strong character. Not sold for road use in North America (the Roxor, a relative assembled in Michigan, is strictly off-road); in Quebec, such a 4x4 would require certified winter tires.

Les VUS Mahindra sont des véhicules à châssis robuste roulant le plus souvent sur des jantes de 16 à 18 pouces, avec des pneus de type VUS au flanc relativement haut (ex. dimensions du genre 235/65 R17 ou 235/60 R18 sur le XUV700, 245/65 R17 sur le Scorpio-N). Pour ce type de VUS, le diamètre de jante typique se situe entre 16 et 18 pouces. Comme ces modèles ne circulent pas officiellement au Québec, l'acheteur devra valider la dimension exacte inscrite sur le flanc d'origine et l'entraxe (bolt pattern) propre au véhicule. Pour tout VUS utilisé l'hiver au Québec, un jeu de pneus d'hiver homologués est essentiel et obligatoire.
