Vehicle model
Oldsmobile Cutlass
The Cutlass is Oldsmobile's most iconic and best-selling model, offered in numerous generations and variants (Cutlass Supreme, Cutlass Ciera, 442, etc.) between the early 1960s and the 1990s. Initially a compact intermediate, it evolved into the category of mid-size sedans and coupes and became, in the mid-1970s, the best-selling car in the United States, exceeding half a million units per year. Versatile, it appealed to families as well as to sporty coupe enthusiasts with its performance versions. Several million units were produced. Depending on the generation, the Cutlass rides on 14- to 16-inch wheels with a 5-bolt GM bolt pattern; in Quebec, examples still in use benefit greatly from winter tires suited to their size.

Technologies, engines and platforms
Depending on the generation, the Cutlass was offered with six-cylinder engines and "Rocket" V8s, then V6s on the more recent versions. It is built on GM's intermediate platforms (A-body and G-body) shared with other divisions, in rear-wheel drive and then front-wheel drive.
