Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost

The Silver Ghost is the car that founded the Rolls-Royce legend. Officially the 40/50 H.P., launched in 1906, it owes its nickname to a silver-painted body and its almost ghostly quiet operation. Its performance and reliability in the great endurance trials of the early 20th century earned Rolls-Royce the title of maker of "the best car in the world" (a phrase attributed to Autocar in 1907). About 8,000 examples, including military and armored versions, were produced between 1907 and 1926, in Derby and later also in Springfield, Massachusetts. A historic collector's piece today, it runs on spoked wheels and period tires very different from modern standards; any maintenance is a matter for vintage-vehicle specialists.

Tire and wheel compatibility
