UAZ 469/Hunter
The UAZ-469, later designated UAZ-3151 and then marketed under the name UAZ Hunter, is an iconic light off-roader from the manufacturer. Designed to replace the aging GAZ-69, its development began as early as 1956, but series production did not start until 1971. Initially reserved for military use with high ground clearance, it later received civilian versions. Exported to dozens of countries in the Eastern Bloc and beyond, it was produced in more than a million units. In 2003, a modernized version, the UAZ Hunter, took over from the base models. It embodies the quintessential rugged off-roader that can be repaired anywhere, capable of crossing almost any terrain. It is a niche and collector model in North America. In Quebec, like any road vehicle, it requires approved winter tires in the correct size, generally tall-sidewall all-terrain-type tires.
