Vehicle model
Wuling Hongguang
The Wuling Hongguang is the model that built the brand's global reputation. Launched in 2010, this compact rear-wheel-drive MPV (minivan) was designed as an affordable family and utility vehicle, offering up to seven seats at a very low starting price. It quickly dominated the MPV segment in China, reaching very high monthly sales and ranking among the country's best-selling vehicles, with a cumulative total of several million units over its career. Several variants are derived from it (Hongguang S, S1, S3, Rongguang), sharing the same robust and economical platform. The Hongguang targets families, small business owners and mixed rural and urban uses. It is not sold in North America. For tires and wheels, this type of MPV generally fits modest 14- to 15-inch wheels with economy tires favoring durability and low cost.

Technology
Technologies, engines and platforms
The Hongguang is based on a rear-wheel-drive architecture (driven rear wheels), with small-displacement naturally aspirated gasoline engines (generally 1.2 to 1.5 L) and a manual gearbox. The mechanicals are deliberately simple, robust and inexpensive to maintain.
