Luxeed
Luxeed (智界, Zhijie in Chinese) is a Chinese electric vehicle brand created in November 2023 through a collaboration between automaker Chery Automobile and technology giant Huawei. It is part of the HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance), the automotive platform through which Huawei supplies its intelligent driving technologies, its software and its connected ecosystem to several Chinese industrial partners. In this partnership, Chery handles the engineering and manufacturing of the vehicles, while Huawei provides the operating system, the onboard electronics and the advanced driver-assistance systems. The first model, the S7 electric sedan, was unveiled in late 2023 and presented by Huawei as a direct rival to the Tesla Model S, with a certified range of up to 855 km on the CLTC cycle. In June 2024, the brand launched its second model, the R7 coupe SUV, the first vehicle in this segment to feature intelligent driving running on HarmonyOS. In January 2025, Anhui Luxeed New Energy Automobile Co. was established as a wholly owned subsidiary of Chery, making Luxeed an autonomously operated entity within the group while maintaining its technological cooperation with Huawei. The partners announced a "phase 2.0" of their collaboration, with an investment of roughly 10 billion yuan and a research and development team expanded to 5,000 people. Production is centered in Wuhu, in Anhui province, the industrial cradle of Chery. The lineup has since been expanded with announced models such as the large V9 minivan and a mid-size SUV. To date, Luxeed is a recent, young brand focused on the Chinese market; it is not officially marketed in North America, and its vehicles are not distributed in Canada or Quebec.

Technologies
Technologies, innovations and platforms
Luxeed stands out for its deep integration of Huawei technologies. The vehicles use the HarmonyOS operating system for infotainment, with a large central touchscreen and a digital instrument cluster. Driver assistance is built on Huawei's ADS (Advanced Driving System); its ADS 4 version on recent models relies on a multi-channel LiDAR, a solid-state rear LiDAR and several 4D millimeter-wave radars. On the powertrain side, the brand offers fully electric drivetrains (a single rear motor or two motors with all-wheel drive) as well as range-extender (EREV) variants, in which a combustion engine recharges the battery without driving the wheels. The batteries come notably from CATL, with high capacities and fast charging. The emphasis is on connectivity, onboard intelligence and long-distance range.
Brand image
Identity, reputation, strengths and weaknesses
Positioning
A premium Chinese brand of connected electric vehicles, born from the Chery-Huawei alliance and absent from the North American market.
Reputation
A very recent brand, Luxeed benefits above all from Huawei's reputation in China, where its technological image and its driver-assistance systems are well regarded. The S7 was positioned against Tesla and the R7 generated a strong volume of pre-orders at its launch. Perspective remains limited, however: long-term reliability, battery durability and resale value have not yet been documented over several years. Absent from North America, the brand has no established reliability record or resale rating in Quebec or Canada, which calls for caution from any buyer outside China.
Strengths
Strong technological integration thanks to Huawei: a smooth HarmonyOS interface, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADS) and rich connectivity. High electric range, a choice between fully electric and range-extender drivetrains, and the backing of Chery's manufacturing expertise. Attractive premium positioning in China, with a good equipment-to-price ratio.
Points to watch
A very young brand, with no perspective on long-term reliability or on resale value. A complete absence of network, parts and service in North America: no vehicle is sold or certified in Canada. The dependence on the Huawei software ecosystem and the focus on the Chinese market strongly limit its relevance for a Quebec buyer.

Production
The design and production of Luxeed vehicles are handled by Chery Automobile, whose industrial facilities are concentrated in Wuhu, in Anhui province, China. It is there that the brand's models are assembled, drawing on the production lines and manufacturing expertise of the Chery group. Huawei is not an automaker: it supplies the technology, software and electronics, but does not build the vehicles. Luxeed operates no plant in North America and neither produces nor assembles vehicles there. To date, the brand is entirely focused on the Chinese domestic market, with no industrial presence or distribution network in Canada or the United States.
Tires and wheels
Luxeed vehicles are large premium electric vehicles fitted with large-diameter wheels: the R7 comes standard with 20-inch wheels, with a 21-inch option, while the S7 uses wheels up to 21 inches depending on the trim. These sizes call for low-profile all-season or performance tires, generally from premium brands. Like any heavy EV, these vehicles place heavy demands on the tires (instant torque, battery weight). In Quebec, a second set of certified winter tires (mountain-snowflake symbol), often mounted on slightly smaller-diameter wheels for added comfort and economy, is strongly recommended and mandatory during the winter season. In the absence of a local brand presence, check the exact dimensions marked on the sidewall before any purchase.
