Land Rover Series I/II/III
The Land Rover Series I, II and III make up the brand's founding line, produced from 1948 to 1985. The Series I (1948-1958) introduced the concept of the civilian four-wheel-drive off-roader with an aluminum body. The Series II (1958-1971), styled by David Bache, introduced the rounded body-side line still recognizable today. The Series III (1971-1985), the most widespread with about 440,000 units, saw the one-millionth Land Rover roll out in 1976. Rugged, simple and durable, these short-wheelbase (88 in) or long-wheelbase (109 in) models are now sought-after classics. In Quebec, they are collector or seasonal-use vehicles; they use small wheels and tall-sidewall tires, with an old bolt pattern different from modern models.
